Start your day by visiting the local monastery. This will not only bring you a sense of peace but also educate you on the rich Buddhist culture in the area. Following the monastery, you can visit the beautiful village of Kyanjin Gompa, where you will be staying, and visit with the friendly locals and get a view of their life.

Those who wish to acclimate themselves through a more active acclimatization can either hike up to Tserko Ri or Kyanjin Ri. Both viewpoints offer stupendous panoramic views of the Langtang Himal, which houses soaring peaks such as Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Yubra Himal.

You continue uphill, and soon you are put before the Langtang River. A bridge helps to cross to the other side, and the trail resumes uphill.

Across the river, you will reach to Thulo Syabru, a nice village on the hill. Explore the village and reach out to the locals.

Further up from Thulo Syabru, it goes up into the mountains. It sometimes is strenuous to climb but gives you the good view of panoramic Langtang Valley and its surrounding peaks. You will see beautiful vistas of Manaslu, Langtang, and Annapurna mountain ranges while you go up.

Finally, you will reach Foprang Danda, a beautiful village offering perfect camping for exploring the higher reaches of the Langtang region. It offers peace and serenity in the mountain village, preparing you for the next leg of your adventure that is going to bring you even closer to the high passes.

Spend overnight in the teahouse with the views of surrounding mountains and warm hospitality by the locals.

Day 9: Ascent to Laurebina—Closer to the High Passes

The mountain view becomes more spectacular as the day’s trek rises higher in altitude into Langtang. Be prepared for a gentle climb through lush forests and picturesque villages on your way up to Laurebina.

After an overnight stay at Foprang Danda, you move towards Laurebina. The path winds its way through bamboo forests that refreshes you right at the start of the day.

After a good breakfast, you will leave Laurebina and start your upward walk to Gosaikunda. The start of the trek is steeply up through a picturesque landscape that unfolds breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

First views of the lake, Gosaikunda, are spectacular and literally right next to the trail. This stunning tranquil lake is a very sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists, attracting thousands of pilgrimages annually.

Once you reach Gosaikunda, take some time to explore the surroundings. Besides the main lake, there exist a number of other holy lakes in the vicinity, of which Saraswatikunda and Bhiaravkunda are to be named. Each lake has its own beauty and spiritual value.

Gosaikunda is simply breathtaking. The snow-capped mountains and the crystal-clear lakes will make you experience a peacefully serene moment within yourself. Take your time; enjoy the moment by capturing the bewitching scene in your camera.

Day 13: Chisapani Descent – Closer View of Helambu

Next comes the mixed jaunt into the Helambu region with steep ascents complemented by exhilarating drops. A variety of fascinating villages along with terraced farmland, exhibit some of the most picturesque mountain vistas on the way down to Chisapani.

After a good breakfast, you set off from the quaint village of Kutumsang en route to Chisapani. The initial part of the trek from Kutumsang consists of a gentle climb through a scenario dotted with glimpses of the surrounding mountains.

You will ascend higher until you finally reach a pass, which commands breathtaking views of the valleys below. You will then descend towards Gul Bhanjyang along a path that passes through terraced farmlands and traditional settlements.

After a short break in Gul Bhanjyang, you will continue downwards toward Pati Bhanjyang. The trail winds its way through lush forests, refreshing the senses with a change of scenery.

The last stretch of your trek ascends to the beautiful ridge-top position of Chisapani. Watch the vast views of hills and valleys around that open up as you gain height and eventually reach your camp for the night.

The day provides a good option for evading the Helambu region from Chisapani. Stay overnight at the teahouse to enjoy the local food and share experiences with other trekkers. Then, the next morning, you take the last leg of your journey back to Kathmandu.

Langtang Circuit Trek Difficulty

The Langtang Circuit trek is a 13-day moderate trek in the Langtang region, passing through Langtang National Park and ascending to a high alpine lake before crossing a pass into the Helambu region. It involves constant ascents, descents, high elevation, and rugged paths, making it challenging for beginners. The trek offers a unique experience in isolated areas with dense forests and small villages.

Langtang Circuit Trek Permits

Below is the list of permits you need for Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu trekking. All the mentioned permits are included in the package cost, and the team gets them on your behalf.

  • Langtang National Park Entry Permit
  • Shivapuri National Park Entrance Fees
  • TIMS Card

Insurance for travel purposes

Travel insurance that includes medical expenses and emergency evacuation is necessary for the Langtang Circuit trails due to their high altitude and remote location. Travel insurance is utilized in cases of urgent medical attention that surpasses the capabilities of basic first aid. The healthcare infrastructure in the Langtang region is inadequate, therefore we may have to air transport the patient to a hospital in Kathmandu if necessary.

Tips for traveling include advice on electricity, internet access, using ATMs, packing luggage, tipping, and managing personal expenses.

  • The charging facilities in the Langtang region are satisfactory. As a lot of teahouse owners heavily depend on solar energy, you might need to spend a small amount of money to charge your devices.
  • There are no ATMs on the Langtang Circuit trail, and locals don’t take foreign currency or Credit/Visa cards. Therefore, it is more advisable to take out money in Kathmandu.
  • The internet service is not as good as you may have expected. Certain teahouses provide WiFi for a fee, but the quality of the connection is uncertain. Opting for cellular data is both the most cost-effective and optimal decision.
  • Each trekker is limited to carrying a duffel bag weighing 10 kg. And you are allowed to bring a maximum of 5 kg of weight in the backpack.
  • The Langtang Circuit trek package cost does not include the tip. Feel free to tip however you like. We strongly encourage you to show appreciation by tipping our crew members for their dedication.
  • Allocate extra funds for personal costs such as charging, wifi, shopping, tipping, and more.
  • You can easily find most trekking clothes and gear for sale or rent in Thamel. Therefore, you don’t need to bring all your belongings from your house.
